Lightning does strike twice... and the BANDITS went on to prove this when they seemed like strangers to the sport for the second time in six months. This became evident with the visitors scoring inside the opening eighteen seconds. It got worse (if it were possible) for the hosts when their non-existant movement & possession led to them going 3 - 0 down inside the opening twenty minutes. The loudest sound to come from the BANDITS players during this time was Steve's blood boiling & to top it off the only time the visitors conceded in the opening period came through them putting it into their own net. I think they were rubbing it in... do you?
The BANDITS were showing some distinct improvements in the beginning of the second period by enjoying some good spells of possession & putting in some precise crosses. The BANDITS best opportunity of the tie came in the direction of Matt Haywood who went on to produce the best strike of the tie, when his thunderous shot went through the crowded box & into the top right corner of the net. However, the BANDITS effort & tempo could not be kept up & the visitors stuck two more times to complete their victory.
The idea of this friendly was to boost the BANDITS... not diminish them. It should serve as a reminder that football is a team sport & we need strength in depth in order to compete.
