The Bandits secured their first eleven-a-side point in a closely fought match against last season's Champions, Bristol Panthers. A monsoon shortly before kick-off made the Nevill Road pitch 'interesting' to play on, but both teams battled on bravely. Bristol fielded a depleted side, spending much of the game with only ten players on the pitch. But despite this advantage, the Bandits couldn't break down the resolute Bristol defence. Both keepers were in excellent form, so the inevitable result was stalemate. It might have been different, however, if a hotly disputed disallowed goal for the Bandits had been given by referee Brian Evans...
